Foodee’s Favourite Patio Roundup in Vancouver
posted on
Vancouver is welcoming the return of happy hour on the patio with open arms. It’s summertime in the city and after-work patio seekers are looking for an outdoor venue to kick back before the return of the rain.
Vancouverites, Foodee’s got you covered. Start off the season with some great eats and cool drinks on some of the city’s best patios.
BierCraft (Commercial Drive)
It should come as no surprise that our first patio recommendation is located on the Drive. BierCraft‘s Commercial Drive location features a south-facing patio, just along the side street. With the craft and imported beer lists of your dreams, you could be sippin’ on some hoppy goodness while soaking up sun and sweet East Van vibes.
The Back Forty
Steps from Rogers Arena and BC Place, the Back Forty has all the barbecued and fried meats you could want before you watch the big game. Their large and open patio space is a southern gem in the heart of downtown Vancouver.
Cabrito
Sit right on the Drive and enjoy Spanish cocktails and wines with some Spanish tapas “with a twist” at Cabrito. What this little patio may lack in space, it makes up for with deliciously unique fare and a prime spot to watch people pass by.
Guu Garden
You can dine in the sky on Guu Garden‘s rooftop patio. Feast on some classic izakaya and top it off with a few Japanese beers while you take in the downtown view. When the weather’s fine, the patio is kept open late into the night.
Chill Winston
One of the hottest destinations in Gastown, Chill Winston‘s patio is at the juncture of Water, Carrall, Powell, and Alexander. Offering farm-to-table goodness, with delicious shareables, it’s a great place to do as the name suggests—chill. Your furry friends can also hang out by your table, just outside the patio enclosure.
Tacofino
Tucked away in Gastown’s Blood Alley is the coolest little brick patio behind the famed Tacofino taco and burrito bar. What looks like a hole in the wall on Cordova extends back into a full restaurant with beautifully crafted cocktails, inspired tacos, and this sweet patio.
The Naam
A Kitsilano treasure, this vegetarian spot is recognized for its healthy veggie and vegan options, late hours, daily live music, and perhaps less known, its neat little shady patio. If you’re looking to beat the heat and chow down on one of the best veggie burgers in the city, The Naam is the place for you.
Local Public Eatery
Enjoying a craft brew on the patio across the street from Kits Beach is pretty much as “summer in Vancouver” as you can get. Local Public Eatery is one of the most popular spots in the neighbourhood because of its ideal location, beautiful patio, and rotating taps—to keep it interesting.
