Inside the Kitchen: Shamane’s Bake Shoppe

Shamane’s Bake Shoppe, located in Boulder, Colorado, is a one-stop establishment that pleases all your food cravings. Whether you’re looking to indulge in something savory, or perhaps satisfy that sweet tooth, Shamane’s variety of baked goods and comfort food never ceases to amaze.

Shamane Simons grew up with a passion for cooking and baking. Back when she was starting out her career, Simons spent some time as an apprentice and pastry assistant at the prestigious Flagstaff House Restaurant in Colorado. This experience confirmed her childhood love for being in the kitchen. The constant buzz and hustle-and-bustle of working at the Flagstaff House inspired her to further explore a career in cuisine. Simons also spent some time traveling through Europe and Asia. These travels, especially through Nepal, India, and Thailand, broadened her cuisine horizons and introduced her to new tastes and flavors, which she would later incorporate into her menu.

The Food

In 2004, Simons fulfilled a life-long dream and opened up Shamane’s Bake Shoppe, which serves a broad variety of cakes, pies (both savory and sweet), cookies. brownies, and tarts. Additionally, Shamane’s also features a café menu, which includes all the comfort food necessities: sandwiches, hot pies, soup, and, of course, desserts. The menu, which is made from scratch using the highest quality ingredients, is primarily inspired by Simons’ Boulder, Colorado roots. Having been raised on what she calls “crunchy, wholesome cuisine,” Simons’ menu incorporates the familiar hominess found in one’s own kitchen, with the techniques and knowledge learned from traveling and cooking across Europe and Asia.

Even though there are far too many delicious items on the menu to try and highlight favorites, the croissant deserves a special mention. It’s flaky, perfectly browned exterior and soft, warm middle can only be compared to something you would find in a Parisian café. Shamane’s is also known for its cakes, which can be beautifully decorated to suit any occasion. If croissants and cake are not what you’re in the mood for, Shamane’s chicken pot-pie and quiches are the perfect fixes for that savory tooth.

The Restaurant

Shamane’s Bake Shoppe maintains the feel of eating at a quaint, countryside European Café. Simons, who ensures that all of her dishes and desserts are prepared with care, wants her customers to feel as if they are in the midst of a unique culinary experience when eating at her establishment. In order to do this, she makes sure that her menu offers a great variety of distinctive food choices, using as many local products as possible. She also encourages her staff to experiment using spices and flavors from their own cultures, which she often features on the daily specials and seasonal dishes. For Simons, it’s all about creating a unique, authentic food experience for her customers. She wants each item on the menu to be created with love, detail, and creative vision.

Shamane’s Bake Shoppe has something for everyone. This tempting treasure of a menu continues to attract people from Boulder, and beyond. Order from Shamane’s Bake Shoppe today and see for yourself!
